Emergency Medical
Procedures

| I. Emergency Injuries/Illnesses
Requiring Immediate Medical Attention: |
| |
| A. Do Not Move a Seriously Injured Person unless it is a life threatening situation. |
|
B. Call
Campus Police ext. 911. |
| C. Give
your name, location and telephone number. |
D. Provide
as much information as possible regarding the nature of the injury/illness;
Be the last to
hang up. |
|
E. Call
trained First Aide person (if available in building). |
F. Return
to the victim and assist (if safe to do so) until Campus Police arrive.
(Campus Police may
transport victim to Brocker Health Center or request an
ambulance transport directly to University
Hospital). |

II.  
Non-Emergency Injuries/Illnesses (situations that are NOT life-threatening and do NOT normally
require assistance to
transport.) |
| |
|
A. Report all
injuries immediately to Supervisor |
B. Any
minor injuries/illness to UNC Charlotte students or employees should be
treated at Brocker Health
Center. (Employee treatment is available only for
occupationally related incidents). |
C. If there is any
question concerning proper treatment, call the Health Center ext. 4617
during operating
hours, or Campus Police (Ext. 911). |

D. Arrange
for personal transportation-if not available, call Campus Police. |
|
E. A
valid UNC Charlotte ID will be required for treatment at the Health Center. |
|
F. If
the Health Center is closed; University Hospital is available for medical
care. |
|
G. Arrange
for personal transportation – if not available, call Campus Police ext.
911. |

III. Qualified First Aid Attendants
Within the Department Will Be Allowed to Render First Aid Until
Medical
Help Arrives Using Red Cross Emergency Action Principals: |

|
A. Survey
the scene – assist only if it is safe to do so. |
B. Do
a primary survey – identify yourself, get consent to help (if possible),
monitor airway, breathing,
circulation, check for bleeding. |
|
C. Call
Campus Police. |
|
D. Do
a secondary Survey |
